Cat Enrichment Ideas & Activities
Cats are natural hunters, and a little food-based enrichment gives that instinct somewhere to go. Hiding a few treats, building a simple puzzle from a box, or scattering kibble for a hunt can turn snack time into play time.
These ideas use things you already have at home and treats from across our cat recipes. Start easy so your cat wins quickly, then make it a little trickier.
Common questions
What is cat enrichment?
Enrichment is anything that lets your cat use natural behaviors like stalking, pouncing, foraging and licking. Food puzzles and treat hunts are easy places to start.
Do I need to buy cat puzzle toys?
No. A cardboard box with holes cut in it, an egg carton, or a muffin tin with balls on top all make good puzzles.
How do I start if my cat isn't interested?
Make the first puzzle very easy, use a treat your cat already loves, and keep sessions short.
